First, let me tell you a little back story. This little guy is very special. As all moms would say. I was unable to conceive a child naturally. Which meant we had to go through IVF (In Vitro Fertilization). Right there, I knew this would be a miracle from God. Which it was. Now, he gave me lots of trouble during my pregnancy, causing me to be on bed rest for most of it. He still came early due to a medical emergency. Spent some time in the NICU. However, that moment when I was able to hold my son for the very first time. The feeling of unconditional love flooded my entire body.
Later, through other blog posts, you will see my testimony and why I made the decisions that I did. Even though the road was sometimes very bumpy, God was always there.
Although I was a very involved parent, there were many times that I wasn't. I worked where he could be with me until he started preschool. Then began teaching at his school. I wanted him to get a good foundation with Jesus.
As much as I thought I would have more time for him and be readily available. I was very busy with other students. He did get the opportunity to see me whenever he needed to. There were cons to. I was told everything he ever did wrong.
Then, my son asked to attend public school. He wasn't happy and was struggling with where he was attending. He felt defeated. This is hard for a mom to hear.
I realized after a lot of bumps. And other circumstances that my son, who is now a 12-year-old, is very active, creative, artistic, and learns by doing. He needs that one-on-one experience of homeschool. Getting his confidence back, feeling successful, and the field trips we take are the best.
We are using ACE School of Tomorrow, paced schooling. It is booklets and pencils. Not electronic. In another post, I will share the history and my experience with this program. So far, it's a fantastic program. He loves it. It's building his confidence. It's teaching him scripture, cursive, and many other important topics. The best part, I can take him on a field trip any day of the week, anywhere, for a fantastic educational experience. As well as take him on fun non-academic adventures.
