Faith over Fear

Have you ever wondered why we fear so much over the tiniest things, yet we don't fear the Lord? That is who we should only fear. Nothing else, because it is not of Him.

Proverbs 9:10 says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

The Hebrew word signifies fear as what is unknown or potentially dangerous. Sometimes it refers to fear or terror inspired by danger or one's enemies.

If we look at Psalms 56:4, "In God, (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can my flesh do to me?"

When we speak about trust, it is abiding confidence, even in times of distress. So, if we are Jesus followers, why then do we suffer with fear? For me, it is simple. I never put all my faith in Jesus.

I had an image of what I was supposed to be. Not the image that God had for me, my flesh's image. It led to extreme anxiety, fear, and depression. Dark depression, which led to seclusion from everyone and everything. This was not happiness; this never made me smile. It caused me to lose people around me, and even my church family, because I would push everyone and everything away.

What I have realized is that that was not all of Jesus. None of it was.  In Proverbs 16:6, " In mercy and truth atonement is provided for iniquity and the fear of the Lord one departs from evil."  What does this mean? It means that through love and unwavering faithfulness, you can find redemption and forgiveness for all things. Jesus can and will forgive us of every single transgression we have ever committed. We need to forgive ourselves, others, and live in Full Faith that all things with Jesus lead to good. No, I think it leads to greatness.

Walk by Faith, not by sight. It is a scripture I thought I followed. Sometimes, I did. Sometimes I did not. Never depended on what my life was like. It was on my terms; does it benefit me or not? I suppose I didn't know the true meaning of this scripture until I surrendered to God. You can go to 2 Corinthians 5:7 to read about walking by faith and not by sight. It really speaks about trusting God in all circumstances and His promises that he makes throughout the Bible.

The only fear we should have is the fear of the Lord. It will give us strong confidence and provide a place of refuge. Have you ever wondered why the fear takes over?  Remember, the Lord will be there wherever you go. You will never be alone. Every battle you face, it will be with Jesus next to you. Stand firm in your faith and only fear that of the Lord, which will only bring strong confidence and give a fountain of life.

It is easy to believe; it is not easy to follow through, in any situation, what the Lord is saying to you. The Holy Spirit is always working. Just watch, listen, and pray that it becomes louder over any of your fears that keep you from doing what He wants you to do.

It takes the first step. Ask Him into your heart and then begin reading the word, which is our lifeline to the truth of how to live. I would rather fight darkness, battles, and anything not of Him, with Him than without Him.
